Write a new post in response to today’s one-word prompt. South

This prompt had my head spinning with things I might want to cover – Southern myths for example. Instead, decided just to give you a glimpse into me via some of my favorite memes.

First, let me say I am a Southern woman, born and bred. I grew up in a small town at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains where you’ll  find some of the most beautiful mountains on earth, a church on nearly every corner and everyone greets you with a smile, if not by name.

As a girl, I couldn’t wait to leave and explore the world – move to the big city.  I’ve been out of the country – once, visited a few other states but I never ventured far from my roots.  I still reside in South Carolina and proud to do so.

  1. I’m from Tennessee, Nashville to be exact but I have lived in Michigan for most of my adult life. I am known here as that Southerner, and it is a compliment. People seem to appreciate it when I say “You’re such a sweetheart” when they have done me a favor, or just did their jobs well. I love Tennessee – all of it and I have lived in the mountains as well as the delta too. MI is my home though now. I enjoy playing in snow, and the cool summers with open windows instead of air conditioning. I visit often and think I may retire to the South but for now I am enjoying my new home as somewhat of an outsider. That’s my tale. Thanks for asking.

  2. One to two days in a big city is plenty for me. I reside on the family homestead, a land grant signed by William McKinley in 1895. I’ve been on business trips to Tyson poultry plants in North Carolina numerous times, but never crossed the border into your beautiful state. Perhaps I’ll make it there someday.
