I realize the existence of writer’s block is controversial. Writers who’ve never experienced the phenomenon believe it’s as much a myth as the Loch ness monster or Bigfoot. Well, I’m here to tell you, it’s real – at least for this old Southern gal.
Thank God, Rachel Harclerode agrees and in her guest post at Live, Write, Thrive, offers us, 9 Ways to Overcome Writer’s Block.
I’ve tried a few of her suggestions, but I think numbers 3, 5, 6, and 9 speak to me. To find out more, hop on over to C.S. Lakin’s Live, Write, Thrive and check out all nine of Rachel’s suggestions.
Am I alone or do you suffer the occasional brain fart of writer’s block? What suggestions do you have? Share them, please.
I’d love to hear your comments. Talk to me. Tell me your story and look for me on Facebook at SheilaMGood, Pinterest, Bloglovin, Twitter@sheilamgood, Contently, and Instagram. You can follow my reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.
I looked at her 9 points. I usually step away for a while, and also read works of other authors in my genre (which there aren’t a lot of). Sometimes, I start on a new story, but when that happens I find it hard to go back to the one where I ground to a halt. I have quite a few half-written stories in the vault.

Omg! I thought I was the only one with files full of half-finished stories. Perhaps, one day I’ll find the inspiration to complete a few of them.

I experience this when I’m all caught up with work and my creative juices run dry… I write with emotions so my way of going back again is by finding inspiration from either happiness or sadness 🙂

I think many people can identify with those two emotions and the inspiration we garner from them. Thank you for reading and commenting and thanks for following.

Writer’s block sucks but I think its as important in the process of writing something as is ACTUALLY WRITING! Everytime that I battle writer’s block, I ALWAYS come up with more and better ideas. Perfect solutions. New perspectives. Which is why I embrace the glitch that writer’s block creates in the creative process. It reminds me to step back, chill and come back later with bigger and better words 😀

When my brain goes on vacation, I get up and walk away from my computer. I’ll do some kind of chore, or maybe just make a cup of tea, sit down with a good book, do a grocery run. I find that I’m ready to go again once I’ve gotten the break I need. Never had writer’s block that lasts for a long time.
